In 1989, about a year after I "discovered" electric power and began spending more and more of my aeromodeling time learning how to make the best use of it, I designed a little electric powered airplane that was destined to become a classic. Even before the first line was drawn on paper, I promised myself that this would be a "no excuses" model, one that would put an end to the comments that "it flies pretty good...for an electric." After two years of testing and refining several prototypes, I published the design in Model Aviation Magazine. Ever since, modelers all over the world have been taking TigerKittens out to their local field and amazing the "wet power guys" with this popular size sport aerobatic electric airplane that flies just as though it had a glow engine up front.

A few years later, Ace R/C introduced a TigerKitten kit that faithfully reproduced my design. Unfortunately, Ace changed hands shortly afterwards, and the 'Kitten was lost in the shuffle. Rather than risk having the model reappear on the market in the form of a kit that might not meet my standards, I elected to retain control of the design myself.

Now the 'Kitten is back. I have re - created the design in CAD, working from my original plan drawings. Rights were secured to the text of the original article, which has been rewritten to reflect added experience, and the construction notes, which did not appear in the original article, have been added. I am also offering custom fiberglass cowl and wheelpant sets made from the original molds.

This airplane has changed a lot of minds about the practicality of electric flight for everyday sport flying. Now YOU can build your own from state-of-the-art CAD plans, redrawn to updated standards and personally authorized by the designer.
